For long months (if not years) I've been having problems with the lid switch – when I closed the lid, the little knob on it would randomly either just trigger it or be just shy of doing so. This was highly annoying, because even with the lid closed the LCD would either be off or not (which in turn was as hard to check as whether the light in the refrigerator actually turns off when the door closes or not).

So today I grew fed up with it and hacked the bugger! I cleaned the little lid-knob up with a mix of alcohol and acetone, made the surface a bit rougher with sandpaper and then applied some Fe21 bicomponent iron putty on it and let it harden under the lamp.

Now I have a working lid switch (again?) and am a happy camper :) Hardware hacking at its simplest ;)
