Hook’s Humble Homepage

Just a quick notice to say that my blog now supports MarkDown apart from pure HTML as text entry option.

I hope this will make it easier for me to concentrate on the content (not the code) and write more frequently. It seems like a great solution, without needing to rely on a WYSIWYG editor and the code mess these usully produce. It’s also a pretty straight-forward syntax and commonly understood.

As an added bonus, you can mark it down to the beat and be styling in your comments ;)

Oh and you can mix and match both MarkDown and pure HTML to your liking.

You may (or not) have noticed, that the license of my humble homepage changed. With the whole migration thing, I took the chance to update the legalese bits as well ;)

Nothing to be alarmed at, it is still under CC-By.

The only two things that changed are:

• the upgrade to version 3.0 due to many good reasons, including the added no endorsement and moral rights clauses as the most important changes; and

• the change from Slovenian port to Unported in part due to the the Slovenian port not being up-to-date and in part due to Creative Commons starting with 3.0 onwards has started writing the Unported versions in a jurisdiction-agnostic manner, meaning that it’s by far not as US-centric as it used to be (in fact, CC 4.0 might drop ports all together). The only consideration to use a EU-ported 3.0 license would be the inclusion of the EU-specific database (sui generis) rights. But as I’m not planning to publish any databases, I’m not bothered with that.

So from today Hook’s Humble Homepage is licensed under:

Note that in both cases you will need to change the Atom feeds, when the migration is over.

So, this is my new blog and homepage — based on Habari — I have to say that it’s seems quite light-weight and first impressions are a very positive. The design is quite clean both for writing and configuring things. And the keyboard-driven menu is just the most brilliant thing I’ve seen in ages on a website administration UI!

With the first post done, here’s to many more…
